Thinking, Learning, Doing: Plural Ways of Design

How can we collectively design a better future in small and personally meaningful ways as we negotiate multiple economies, divergent livelihoods, complex systems, and multifaceted social and ecological dilemmas? At the same time, how can designers ensure that our work has everyone and everything in mind? And critically, how can we consider the human and non-human in our understanding of design challenges and solutions in times of environmental crisis?

At the Nineteenth International Conference on Design Principles and Practices, we aim to uncover new perspectives beyond human-centered design and consider the interconnectedness between design, society, environments, and ecological systems. We will delve into models of transdisciplinary collaboration, encouraging participants to question the "what ifs" and identify new possibilities. It is time we negotiate a plural multi-species pathway for resets and reworks for a better future for all species.
