We are pleased to announce that Sucharitha Yelimeli will be speaking at the Fourteenth International Conference on Design Principles & Practices.
Sucharitha Yelimeli is a program coordinator in the Center for Urban Pedagogy's (CUP) community education programs. CUP is a New York-based nonprofit whose mission is to use the power of design and art to increase meaningful civic engagement, particularly among historically under-represented communities. Sucharitha Yelimeli partners with designers and community organizations to create visually-based educational tools that help demystify complex issues impacting their communities, from zoning law to immigrants’ rights. She hails from Northern California and has a background in architecture, art, and teaching. Before coming to CUP, she designed single-family homes and before that, she was an art teacher. She’s interested in how people respond to design, especially at the city-scale, and likes taking seemingly unapproachable ideas and making them friendlier.
